MARTIN KASÍK
Martin Kasík is an excellent solo and chamber pianist who has earned his reputation in prestigious concert halls around the world. His interpretations are inimitable.
Winner of one of the most world-spanning contests of its kind – the Young Concert Artists Competition in New York in 1999 – Martin Kasík has played the piano since he was four. He attended the Janáček Conservatoire in Ostrava under the guidance of Mgr. Monika Tugedliebová and studied in the class of Prof. Ivan Klánský at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He is the laureate of numerous national and international competitions, including the Prague Spring 1998, the Davidoff Prix 2000 for Best Czech Classical Musician Aged 28 or Less, and the Harmonie Award for the Most Successful Young Artist of 2002.
He has taken to the stage in major music venues throughout Europe (Berliner Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall in London, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Tonhalle Zürich, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, DeDoelen Rotterdam, Finlandia Hall Helsinky, Auditorio diBarcelona, etc.), the United States of America (Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall in New York, Kennedy Center Washington, etc.), Japan (Tokyo Suntory Hall), Taiwan (Philharmonic Hall), and Singapore (Singapore Victoria Concert Hall).
As a soloist, he has performed with the likes of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, DSO Berlin, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Rotterdams Philharmonisch, or the Helsingin kaupunginorkesteri. He regularly collaborates with the Czech Philharmonic and the Prague Symphony Orchestra, with which he has toured the US and Japan.
In 2008 Martin Kasík was appointed President of the Chopin Festival in Mariánské Lázně. He has been tenured at the Prague Conservatoire since 2009. He also teaches at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
His recordings for Supraphon and Arco Diva have earned top accolades in Gramophone, Repertoire, and Harmonie.
